DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) Picture Perfect Pedigree Gains Breeders’ Cup Weekend Updates

The already regally-bred Claiborne stallion DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) picture perfect pedigree became even brighter last week just in time for his first foals to go through the ring when his sire Dubawi (Ire) hit another milestone at the Breeders’ Cup.

Already a world-class stallion as the only British stallion to sire 200 stakes winners in history, Dubawi’s (Ire) seven percent graded stakes winners in 2021 saw him make history last weekend as the first ever stallion to sire three Breeders’ Cup winners at one meeting.

Giving a peek at the talent DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) foals will possess, Dubawi’s (Ire) winners spanned from a Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner to a 5-year-old Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) victor with 3-year-old Yibir (GB) closing out the weekend with the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) victory.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) gives breeders exclusive access to the Dubawi (Ire) line in Kentucky as the only son standing in the state. The sire of 24 graded stakes winners and six Grade 1 winners in 2021, Dubawi (Ire) has also had a successful year as a sire and grandsire of winners.

His son Night Of Thunder (Ire), who is bred on the same cross as DEMARCHELIER (GB), is one of the top third crop sires worldwide with nine stakes winners in 2021 alone including Grade 1 winner Thundering Nights. Son New Bay (GB) sired this year’s Sun Chariot (G1) winner and who can forget about Dubawi’s (Ire) grandson Make Believe (GB) siring this year’s two-time Grade 1 winner Mishriff (Ire), who also took out the Saudi Cup on dirt!

Dubawi (Ire) is an excellent sire-of-sires but what makes DEMARCHELIER (GB) an even more attractive stallion is his success as graded stakes winner from one of the top families in the stud book.

Already an elite family that includes such greats as classic winner Yesterday (Ire)and Grade 1 winners Quarter Moon (Ire) and Diamondsandrubies (Ire), Alpinista (GB) has improved the page even more as the 10th Grade 1 winner under DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) first three dams.

Undefeated in her five starts this year at four, Alpinista (GB) has dominated German racing over the past three months with three straight Grade 1 wins.

It would have been hard to improve DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) update from Dubawi (Ire) last weekend but Alpinista (GB) did just that with a win in the Allianz – Grosser Preis Von Bayern (G1) less than 24 hours after Dubawi’s (Ire) third Breeders’ Cup winner crossed the line.

Buyers will have their chance to buy foals from DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) first crop this week at the Keeneland November Sale with 10 set to go through the ring.
