DEMARCHELIER’S (GB) Class Photo Wins Second Straight

DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) talented 3-year-old Class Photo took his record to two wins in three starts on Tuesday with an Allowance victory for owner-breeder Stella Thayer.

Winning his maiden last out going 1 1/16 miles on the turf, Class Photo was cut back to one mile for the Presque Isle Downs race by trainer Arnaud Delacour.

He broke best of all in the field and was happy to set the pace under a small amount of pressure from one other horse. Leaving that pressure behind down the backstretch, he didn’t have to worry about any other runners until the stretch when another horse made a run at him.

A late closer tried to upset the winner, but Class Photo gamely dug in to win by a head with the rest of the field nearly three lengths behind the top two.

Class Photo has now won two of his three starts with his lone loss being a third place finish in his debut. He is out of the two-time winning Noble Mission mare Surprise Again, who is a granddaughter of well-bred Grade 3 winner Welcome Surprise.

He is bred on the same Dubawi (Ire) son x Galileo (Ire) granddaughter cross as Group 2 winner Isaac Shelby and Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Thunder Kiss among five stakes performers bred on the cross.

DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) 13 winners this year include 11 turf winners, putting him first among all second crop sires and in the top 20 of all active Kentucky sires.
