DEMARCHELIER (GB) Foursome on Offer at OBS Spring

DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) first crop is represented by four juveniles at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training on April 25 – 28, starting with Hip 109.

Consigned by Hidden Brook and showing in Barn 9, the Donaldson Stable-bred colt is a half-brother to stakes winner She’s So Special and two other winners from three to race out of Born Special. That mare is out of a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Jersey Girl, who also produced Grade 1 winner Jersey Tow, and Grade 3 winner St Petersburg.

This page also includes stakes winner Our Caravan and Grade 3 placed Bold Conquest among the 10 stakes performers on the page. The Dubawi (Ire) son x A.P. Indy granddaughter cross has produced Grade 2 placed Lunar Light (Aus) and Grade 2 fourth Dark Moon Rising (Ire) while Dubawi (Ire) sired stakes winner Sovereign Prince (GB) out of an A.P. Indy granddaughter.

A.G. Sales consigns Hip 577, a colt out of Just Waiting – who has produced three winners from three to race. Bred by Harper Ridge Thoroughbreds, the colt’s Grade 3 winning second dam Ioya Two produced nine winners of her own. That group included five stakes winners, led by graded stakes winners Ioya Bigtime, Another Mystery, and Amazing Results.

Dubawi (Ire) has three runners out of More Than Ready mares with two stakes performers while Dubawi (Ire) son Makfi (GB) also sired a Grade 3 placed runner.

The New York-bred Hip 791 from the Niall Brennen consignment is out of Pilamaya. Bred by Shephanie Baltzan, the DEMARCHELIER (GB) colt is a half-brother to six winners from seven to race led by nine-time winner Grudge.

Pilamaya is a half-sister to stakes winners Love That Jazz, Boowoogeemalia, and Grand Refer out of the stakes placed Val’s Jazz. That mare is one of three mares on the page who either produced stakes horses or the dams of stakes performers with 10 stakes winners and 14 stakes performers under those mares.

Hip 1128 is the final through the ring for DEMARCHELIER (GB) with the filly offered by Niall Brennan.

Bred in Kentucky by Leverett Miller, the filly is out of Arch’s Treasured. That mare is full sister to British stakes winner Desert Phantom and stakes-placed Mercilla. A page full of blacktype includes champion Blue Prize, Grade 1 winners Blue Stripe and Knock and Grade 2 winners Far Away Love and Blues For Sale. In all, third dam Dancer’s Saga is the matriarch of a family that includes 13 stakes winners and six other stakes performers.

“They are average-sized, which he was,” Brennan said of DEMARCHELIER (GB) juveniles. “I have two that I really like. They are sharp and forward. I saw a couple breeze well at the March sale. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes up with four or five nice 2-year-old winners on the grass. He has the quality to do that. He has the potential to break out and have some really nice turf horses.”

Arch daughters produced multiple stakes placed Boreale among the four runners they have by Dubawi (Ire) sons while Dubawi’s (Ire) Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Goldspur and two other stakes performers are all out of Arch mares.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) has one juvenile scheduled to go through the ring each of the four days of the sale with each session starting at 10:30a.m. ET.
