WAR FRONT registered his second Australian stakes winner on Thursday when Blue Soldier won the Listed Ladies Day Cup over a mile.
Racing at Hawkesbury in New South Wales, Blue Soldier was the first into stride and set the pace with a horse cruising on his hip. The 4-year-old kicked into top gear with a furlong and a half and entered battle with Wheelhouse, who poked his head in front.
Blue Soldier wasnโt going away that easily and regained his lead in the final furlong to win by a little over a head at the line.
He is one of three stakes performers from 17 runners in Australia for WAR FRONT, who also has dual Group 1 winner Homesman and Group 1-placed Spirit of Valor on his Australian resume.
Racing in the Northern Hemisphere under the name Fort Myers, Blue Soldier is also an Irish stakes winner and has seven top three finishes from 15 starts.
The well-bred gelding is out of Irish 1000 Guineas (G1) winner Marvellous, who is a full sister to champions Gleneagles and Happily and Group 1 winner Joan Of Arc in addition to Group winners Taj Mahal and Coolmore.
Their Group 2 winning dam Youโresothrilling is a full sister to European Horse of the Year and Champion Sire Giantโs Causeway.
