Clearly a progressive filly, 3-year-old Roly Poly won her second consecutive Group 1 by defeating her elders in the Prix Rothschild in France. Her gutsy victory came just two weeks after winning the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (G1) in England.
In the Prix Rothschild, Roly Poly refused to be denied, as she got her head down in front of Via Ravenna at the wire. It was a four-horse blanket finish, with Siyoushake coming in third and last year’s winner, Qemah, finishing fourth.
“All through this season she has continued to progress and she put in her best ever performance today,” said winning jockey Ryan Moore. “She tries so hard, and she is a high-class filly who seems to thrive on her racing.”
Roly Poly’s multiple successes come as no surprise, given the amount of promise she has shown. Earlier this year, Roly Poly finished second to her stablemate Winter in both the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas (G1) and Coronation Stakes (G1).
As 2-year-old, the talented filly was named a TDN Rising Star, with victories coming in the Grangecon Stud Stakes (G3) and Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (G2).
Out of the multiple Group 1-winning mare Misty For Me, Roly Poly races for Coolmore.
War Front has 23 stakes horses to his credit this year, including additional G1 winner American Patriot. North America’s #1 sire of stakes winners in 2016, War Front stands for $250,000 at Claiborne.
