Claiborne’s Day 2 Highlights at Keeneland September Sale

The action picked up late in the session of Day 2 at the Keeneland September Sale. Overall, numbers remained steady with a slight rise in average and increase in median. For Claiborne, the highlight of the day was Hip 305, a WAR FRONT colt out of Don’t Trick Her, which sold for $900,000 (tied for the 2nd highest price sale of the day).

Hip 379, another colt by War Front (out of Haka) commanded a bid of $575,000. He was consigned by Claiborne and sold to agent John Ferguson.

Hip 337, a colt by the late sire ARCH, brought $400,000.

Kentucky Derby winner ORB, represented by his first-crop of yearlings, captured the attention of bloodstock agent Tom McGreevy, who purchased Hip 249 (filly o/o Chief Secretary) for $330,000 for Fox Hill Farm. In total, three yearling by Orb were sold during Keeneland’s second session, all bringing six-figures.

Top 3rd-crop sire, BLAME, sold a filly (Hip 210) for $280,000, purchased by JJ Crupi.
