FLATTER’s TARIS Much the Best in Del Mar’s Rancho Bernardo-G3

Making her first start of the season after a runner-up finish in last December’s G1 La Brea S. at Santa Anita, TARIS showed she was ready to get back to racing easily capturing the 6 1/2-furlong Rancho Bernardo H.-G3 by 2 3/4 lengths. The 4-year-old filly by FLATTER stalked the pace no more than a length back early. She moved up to challenge the leader on the turn, took over near the top of the stretch, and cruised home under a moderate hand ride. TARIS now has five wins in seven starts, including a nine-length win in Keeneland’s Lexus Raven Run S.-G2 in which she earned a 110 Beyer, the highest for any filly or mare in the country up to that point in the year. The $395,700 earner was bred by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider out of the Theatrical (Ire) mare, Comedy. TARIS was purchased out of last year’s Fasig-Tipton November Sale for $2.35 million. She is trained by Simon Callaghan for owners Michael B. Tabor, Derrick Smith and John Magnier.
