Runner-up in the Grade 3 Fair Grounds H. in his seasonal debut, GLENARD (GB) notched his first stakes win taking the $100,000 J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys and Girls Club S. by a length. Racing 1 1/16 miles on a yielding turf, the son of ARCH was still nearly eight lengths off the lead after the first half. He began to move closer to the front runners around the final turn along rail, took advantage of his inside position to shoot the gap at the top of the stretch and won the battle to the wire at Indiana Grand Race Course. His runner-up effort in the Fair Grounds turf race was his first start in the U.S. and first start since last September. GLENARD broke his maiden as a 2-year-old at first asking at Doncaster and also recorded wins at Haydock and York. Bred by Denford Stud Ltd. out of the Graded stakes-winning Theatrical (IRE) mare Olaya, GLENARD is trained by Graham Motion for Andrew Stone and now has earned over $300,000.
