FLATTER’s FORCE Wins New York Derby in Stakes Debut

Making his first try against stakes competition, FORCE rallied from fourth to win the $150,000 New York Derby by two lengths. After being forced wide going into the first turn, the 3-year-old colt by FLATTER moved inside along the rail racing 1 1/16 miles at Finger Lakes. He eventually moved off the rail for the run down the stretch, quickly caught the frontrunner and pulled away to get the win. A Santa Anita Maiden Special Weight winner in his third start of the year, FORCE also placed in a high class allowance at Churchill last out behind a Classic-placed horse after setting most of the pace. The Bred by Sequel Thoroughbreds and JMJ Racing Stables out of the Silver Deputy mare Forever Valentine, the $130,000 OBS April 2014 purchase is trained by Mark Casse for owner John Oxley.
