It was the second stakes winner in four days for FIRST SAMURAI on Tuesday when Samurai Charm won the Zia Park Distaff for her second straight stakes victory.
Returning to Zia Park after winning the Chaves County Stakes in October, Samurai Charm spent the first half of the six furlong race close behind the leader with just a head separating them as she entered a duel in the turn.
She took over the lead shortly after and from there, easily pulled away for a 4 ¾ length victory as the heavy favorite.
Trained by Peter Miller for Downstream Racing, it was the seven win and 11th top three finish in 13 starts for the 5-year-old, who now has earnings of $312,660. The winner of three stakes, she is also a multiple graded stakes place runner for her owner-breeders Kirk and Judy Robison.
She is one of three stakes winners and four stakes performers out of Back Seat Charm, who was also bred by her breeders. Back Seat Charm is out of the stakes placed Back Seat Babe, a mare purchased by the Robisons as a yearling.
This is also the family of Caressing, the dam of FLATTER’S champion son West Coast.
