RUNHAPPY looks to have another strong juvenile on his hand after Runtoday romped on debut at Canterbury by five lengths.
Breaking sharply, the James McIngvale-owned runner took the lead and started to pull away quickly from there in the five furlong race. By the time he hit the stretch, he had a comfortable lead but it’d only get bigger from there.
His jockey asked him for more late and the colt willingly gave it to have five lengths on the runner up and more than 13 lengths on the rest of the field.
Trained by Chris Richard, Runtoday was bred by Edwin Anthony out of the Distorted Humor Artistic Life. That mare is out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Higher Power and multiple graded stakes winner Alternation. The family also includes Canadian Horse of the Year Peaks and Valleys and Grade 1 winner Mucho Gusto.
Artistic Life had another RUNHAPPY colt in 2021 and visited CATHOLIC BOY this year.
