The day after Tarabi won an opening day stakes, another FIRST SAMURAI daughter was in the Saratoga winner’s circle when Lady Mine put in a strong effort to win a juvenile Maiden Special Weight.
Lady Mine broke quickly under Jose Gomez in the 5 ½ furlong race to set a pressured pace with Maddie’s Grace and Im Just Kiddin keeping the pressure on. Maddie’s Grace gave up at the top of the stretch but Im Just Kiddin took her place, pushing the winner throughout the lane.
In the end, Lady Mine started to pull away and had a length on Im Just Kiddin with the third-place runner 7 ¾ lengths behind that one and everyone else over 14 ½ lengths behind the winner.
Bred in New York by Anlyn Farms, Lady Mine has hit the board in two of her three starts for nearly $60,000 in earnings. Trainer James Chapman also co-owns the filly with Rolf Obrecht.
Lady Mine is the first foal out of Lady Moyne, a granddaughter of the Grade 3-placed Civilynn. The family also includes British 2-Year-Old Champion Flashy Wings and last year’s Irish Champion 3-Year-Old Stayer The Mediterranean in addition to Scandinavian champion Account Express.
