WAR FRONT’S Tinker Toy became his sire’s 102nd stakes winner on Saturday when the 5-year-old out of Group 1 winner Cursory Glance added the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes to his record in England.
Racing over seven furlongs on the All Weather surface at Wolverhampton, the Merry Fox Stud homebred was prominent in the running throughout. Shadowing the stakes winning Highfield Princess, Tinker Toy made his move with just over a quarter left to run and was in control as the field raced into the final eighth.
Tinker Toy kept running to the line, winning by three quarters of a length in the end for trainer Roger Varian, who has trained him to all four of his career victories in his eight starts.
The British-bred gelding is one of two runners for the two-time stakes winning Cursory Glance, who is a half-sister to the dam of U.S. Grade 1 winner Digital Age and Group 3 winner Acer Alley. Tinker Toy’s third dam is the Group 3 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Time Away, who is the dam of two stakes winners as well.
