WAR CORRESPONDENT Takes Gulfstream’s G3 Appleton S.

WAR CORRESPONDENT became WAR FRONT’s 35th stakes winner and 20th graded stakes winner getting to the wire first in the Appleton S.-G3 at Gulfstream Park. Having placed in the G1 Gulfstream Park Turf H. in his last start, WAR CORRESPONDENT cut back to a mile in the Appleton. Sitting just off the pace early one, the Christophe Clemente trainee swung out approaching the stretch and ran down the frontrunner to get the win by a neck. His final time of 1:34 4/5 was only 2/5’s off the course record. WAR CORRESPONDENT was only beaten a length in the Gulfstream Park Turf and prior to that race, finished runner-up in Woodbine’s Autumn S.-G2 beaten just a neck. Bred by Joseph Allen out of the Rahy mare Tempo West, WAR CORRESPONDENT is a full brother to Champion Declaration of War.
