Happygobucky made easy work of a Maiden Special Weight at Remington Park on Tuesday with a four length victory to become the seventh winner for RUNHAPPY.
Racing over 6 ½ furlongs for trainer Steve Asmussen and owner Clark Brewster, Happygobucky was one of the fastest ones out of the gate from her wide draw. She used that draw to her advantage to give herself clear running room on the outside of the pack.
The speedy filly made her move around the turn, racing into the stretch head-to-head with the longtime leader. It was over from there with Happygobucky taking the lead and pulling away to win by a widening four lengths under Stewart Elliott with much more to give.
A $95,000 weanling purchase at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Happygobucky was bred by Wayne, Gray, and Bryan Lyster out of their stakes winning Pulpit mare Consecrate.
The dam of two winners from two to race, Consecrate is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Harlan Street out of the multiple stakes winner Curious Conundrum.
