First Yearlings by MASTERY a Commercial Success

The first yearlings by undefeated Grade 1 winner MASTERY did not disappoint at the September yearling sales. Fifteen yearlings sold for $200,000 or more during the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase and Keeneland September Sale combined. MASTERY currently ranks third by average amongst first crop yearling sales sires.

Hip 920 at the Keeneland September Sale was the highest-priced MASTERY yearling sold, fetching $510,000 from buyer Maverick Racing. The colt, consigned by agent Indian Creek, is out of the Indian Charlie mare Chuckling – a half-sister to the dam of the sensational multiple Grade 1 winner Guarana, and also a daughter of Breeders’ Cup champ Pleasant Home.

JCM went to $450,000 for hip 413 at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase, a son of MASTERY out of the Tiznow mare Texas Gem. The colt was consigned by Eaton Sales, Agent, and bred in Kentucky by LNJ Foxwoods, SB Racing Corp, Anglo-American Thoroughbreds, et al.

The hammer dropped at $400,000 for hip 350 at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase, a bay filly out of Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect), who herself is a G1 winner and earner of over $1.6 million. This daughter of MASTERY is a half-sister to the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G2) Champion Sharing (Speightstown), who is now a millionaire after winning the Edgewood Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Oaks undercard. The filly was bred and consigned by Sam-Son Farms (KY), and purchased by John McComack Bloodstock.

MASTERY’s first weanlings sold up to $325,000 last November, and he sold the highest-priced short yearling of $365,000 – at Keeneland January – amongst freshman sires. Look for more yearlings by MASTERY at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton October Sale!
