Mastery’s First Weanlings Make Some Noise at November Sales

Hip 47, 2019 Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Mastery’s highly-anticipated first weanlings finally made their debut in the sales rings this November.

Mastery was the second-leading weanling sire at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale, with an average of $282,500. His highest-priced offspring was Hip 47, a bay colt out of Native One (Indian Charlie), who sold for $325,000 to OXO Equine. Consigned by South Point Sales Agency, Hip 47 is from the family of Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Mitole.

Hip 27, a chestnut colt consigned by Gainesway, brought $240,000. Sold to Stonehaven Steadings, Hip 27 is out of Janis’s Joy, by Broken Vow.

In Book 1 at the Keeneland November Sale, Hip 219, a bay colt out of the stakes-winning Summer Bird mare Distinta, sold for $290,000 to de Meric Stables. Consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, Hip 219 is from the family of Grade 1 winner Purim.

By successful sire Candy Ride, Mastery was undefeated on the track, with wins in the Grade 1 Cash Call Futurity, Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes, and Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes. Mastery stands at Claiborne Farm for $25,000.
