WAR FRONT juvenile Two Out Hero was impressive yet again on Saturday when the colt won the Listed Soaring Free S. in his second start at Woodbine.
Coming off a 12-length debut victory in July, the Kevin Attard trainee was given a harder task for his second start in this 6 ½ furlong turf race. Breaking from the inside gate and going off as the favorite, he wasn’t the fastest to start the race but quickly shot up to the leaders to settle behind just two horses from his spot on the rail.
Comfortable in his inside position, coming into the stretch he was angled a path wider to pass the leader on the outside. Two Out Hero put together an impressive stretch run to hold off the rest of the field once he took over in midstretch. The colt was kept focused, but never fully extended when winning by 1 ½ lengths for Gold Square.
“This is a good horse,” Attard said. “I think he’s a very special horse… So far, everything’s gone according to plan and this is another stepping stone. We will take it from here.”
Two Out Hero was a $240,000 Keeneland September purchase for Chad Summers last year from Terrazas Thoroughbreds and was bred by Corser Thoroughbreds in Kentucky.
Two Out Hero is the first foal out of the multiple stakes placed Song River, who is a half-sister to the stakes placed Glean. The pair are out of Harlan’s Honor, who is one of two stakes winners for her own stakes placed dam Indian Rush – who is also the dam of stakes winner March X Press, with that one producing Grade 3 winner and multiple Grade 2 placed Fort Bragg.
WAR FRONT was also the broodmare sire of Bold Venture S. (G3) second Victory Achieved on the same card.
Two Out Hero‘s victory showed the versatility and longevity of WAR FRONT’s runners yet again after the stallion sired the 6-year-old winner of the Arlington Million (G1) last weekend before his juveniles took the spotlight this weekend.
