It was a second consecutive stakes victory for RUNHAPPY’s Won Happy Mama on Friday with an all-the-way win in the Saylorville S. at Prairie Meadows.
Racing over the same six furlongs she covered in her Mamie Eisenhower S. victory, Won Happy Mama went straight to the lead out of the gate. No one was willing to go with her, allowing her to set an uncontested lead down the backstretch.
Elvin Gonzalez asked her for more at the quarter pole and she swept into the stretch three wide. Another runner closed in on her, but Won Happy Mama had enough left to hold her off by three quarters of a length at the line.
Trained by co-owner Travis Swan Murphy, Won Happy Mama is also owned by Matt Trent and Poindexter Thoroughbreds. The filly bred by Kenneth White has won three consecutive races and has five wins and three other top three placings in 12 starts this year. This was her third career stakes victory and second win in two weeks.
Won Happy Mama is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Anarchist as one of two stakes performers out of multiple stakes placed Vicarious Won. That mare has five winners overall as a fourth-generation stakes producer.
Won Happy Mama is also a fourth-generation stakes performer herself.
Her dam has a BLAME yearling filly as well.
