PONTCHATRAIN continued her winning ways into the new year by capturing the Monrovia S.-G2 at Santa Anita over the weekend. Coming off victories in the Senator Ken Maddy S.-G3 and the Unzip Me S. the 4-year-old daughter of WAR FRONT won this stakes despite being bumped badly at the start. After her rough start PONTCHATRAIN stalked the pace setter for the majority of this about 6 1/2-furlong race over the downhill turf course. Taking over the lead mid-stretch the filly pushed on gamely to score by 3/4 of a length. PONTCHATRAIN races for Glen Hill Farm and is trained by Thomas F. Proctor.
