Coming off an impressive Grade 2 win last time out, GRAND ARCH forced the winner into a new course record with his close runner-up finish in the $500,000 Fourstardave H.-G2. Going a mile on Saratoga’s inner turf course, the son of ARCH raced in third position, then began his rally on the far turn. As they neared the top of the stretch, GRAND ARCH swung out three wide, gained the advantage in mid-stretch and then was caught near the wire beaten only a neck for the win. The time of the mile was 1:33.25, eclipsing the old mark by .17 seconds. In his King Edward S.-G2 win last out, GRAND ARCH ran a mile on Woodbine’s turf course in 1:32 2/5. He has now won or placed in all 15 starts and has earnings of $440,100.
