WAR FRONT started the 2021 2-year-old sales season with a bang on Tuesday when his son out of Serene Melody sold to Ron Ellis for $525,000 at the OBS March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.
The fourth most expensive 2-year-old of the first session, the Eddie Woods-consigned colt has a top family behind him as the second foal from stakes winner Serene Melody. Serene Melody is out of Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Serena’s Song, who has been just as big of a success as a broodmare as she was on the track.
Serena’s Song is the dam of six stakes winners and has champion Honor Code and Grade 2 winner Made You Look among those produced by her daughters and granddaughters. Serena’s Song is just one daughter of Imagining who has proven to be a strong producer with her full sister Serena’s Sister the matriarch of a branch of the family that includes Irish Champion Rizeena, Group 1 winner Zabeel Prince, and the multiple graded stakes winning, Grade 1-placed Doubles Partner.
A half-sister to the Serena sisters is also the granddam of last year’s Group 1 Commonwealth Cup winner Golden Horde with a second half-sister the granddam of multiple Japan group winner Fumino Imagine.
It has been another strong year for WAR FRONT with the stallion seeing son Homesman win his second career Group 1 less than a week into March to lead WAR FRONT’s charge in 2021.
