3YO SIZE Runner-up in Belmont’s Jersey Girl in Stakes Debut

Making only her third career start after winning the first two, SIZE rallied to finish runner-up in the six-furlong Jersey Girl S. in her stakes debut. After having to steady at the break, the 3-year-old filly by FIRST SAMURAI found herself sitting off the pace in the early going. The Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider homebred swung five wide into the stretch and closed to earn the runner-up spot. In her racing debut in a Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream in mid-March, the filly out of the PULPIT mare, Extent, led nearly every step of the way, feeling pressure the whole way, to win by a neck. In her second start, the Bill Mott trainee got squeezed at the break in an allowance at Aqueduct, but soon rushed up to take the lead. Racing around the turn, SIZE was headed by her dueling challenger into the stretch but edged away in the final furlong with a length advantage at the wire.
