3YO THE GREAT WAR Victorious in Seasonal Debut

Last seen in an on-the-board finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-G1, THE GREAT WAR kicked off his 3-year-old campaign with a commanding 7 1/4-length win in the 96Rock S. The son of WAR FRONT pressed the paced from the start, took over with a little more than two furlongs to go and just drew away with ease racing 6 1/2 furlongs on Turfway Park’s all-weather surface. In his race prior to the Breeders’ Cup, THE GREAT WAR was a 3 1/2-length winner of Curragh’s six-furlong Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Blenheim S on the turf. He also was runner-up in the Irish Field Curragh S. and was proclaimed a “TDN Rising Star” after a three-length tally at the Curragh in early May, his second win in as many starts. A $1,000,000 Keeneland September 2013 Yearling sales grad bred and sold by Claiborne Farm, THE GREAT WAR is out of the PULPIT mare, Guide. He races for the partnership of Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, Mrs. Susan Magnier and Joseph Allen and is now trained by Wesley Ward, after being under the tutelage of Aidan O’Brien during his juvenile campaign.
