3YO AUGUSTA ROAD WINS MSW DEBUT

First-time starter AUGUSTA ROAD drew off through the stretch to win this six-furlong Maiden Special Weight by 5 1/2 lengths. Going off as the favorite and breaking from post seven at Turfway Park, this 3-year-old son of STROLL grabbed the lead soon out of the gate to set the pace and gradually pulled away from the field. Bred in Kentucky by Robert Bonnie & Julie Gomena out of the Waquoit mare, Golden Mitten, AUGUSTA ROAD races for Stone Lea Stables and is trained by Tom Drury, Jr. He is the 21st winner from STROLL‘s first crop since returning from Italy to stand in the U.S. and puts that crop’s earnings over $1.1 million.
